  • Elsevier Agrees to Let MIT Use Bits of Journal Articles Online: The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has reached a deal with Elsevier, one of the largest journal publishers, to allow a limited amount of material from its journals to be used in MIT’s OpenCourseWare project.
  • Taming the Digital Beast: This Campus-Technology Magazine article by Andy Patrizio discusses repository issues such as contribution, access, rights, storage, and functionality.
  • Use and Abuse of Reusable Learning Objects: This article from the Journal of Digital Information, by Pithamber R. Polsani, seeks to assess the definitions of the term Learning Object, to articulate the foundational principles for developing a concept of LOs, and to provide a methodology and broad set of guidelines for creating LOs.

  • Worlds in Collision: Copyright, Technology, and Education: This article by Stephen Marshall discusses some of the conflicts between new collaborative technologies and the legal and technical systems that govern online and real-world behavior.
  • What Can You Do? The Rest of the Copyright Story: This downloadable podcast was recorded during the EDUCAUSE 2007 Annual Conference and features a discussion the ARL Know Your Copy Rights copyright education initiative. This initiative accentuates the positive and emphasizes what you can do with copyrighted materials. This effort offers resources, including a unique brochure, specifically created for all campus constituencies with the assistance of nationally recognized copyright educators.
